Earl Park is a Seoul based media artist. After receiving his BFA in DMD(digital media design) from Hong-Ik University in Seoul, Korea, he has participated in public art projects, interactive cinema creation for kino-drama performances, and large scale art projects for Korean major companies including the renowned kinetic landscape Hyper-Matrix for Hyundai motor group, while working on his independent works.
He was awarded ‘outstanding work for Seoul City gallery Project’ from Seoul Design Foundation and ‘a grant for the Da Vinci Idea Public Contribution’ from Seoul Foundation Arts and Culture, and was selected as a resident artist by Seoul Art Space Geumcheon. His works have been exhibited at several exhibitions in Seoul, including the Creators Project at Kunsthalle. Currently he is working in Jônpasang, media artist group.

‘Mr. KongDak’ is a heart beating robot. It consists of HAND part, BODY part, and LEG part. The hand part equipped with a contact microphone collects subtle heart beats. The body part comprises several electrical parts for low frequency filtering and amplifying, PCB, a sub-woofer, and driving devices. And transformable four legs support the body. The moment Mr. KongDak’s hand touches the viewer’s heart, his heart comes alive beating in the same frequency with the viewer’s.

‘콩닥’군은 심장이 뛰는 로봇이다.
‘콩닥’군은 접촉식 마이크로 미세한 심장 소리를 집음하는 <팔 부분>, 저주파 영역의 필터링과 증폭을 위해 전자 부품들, PCB, 서브우퍼 유닛, 구동부가 들어가는 <몸통부분>, 이들을 지지하며 형태를 여러 가지로 변형시킬 수 있는 <다리부분>으로 나뉜다.
‘콩닥’군의 손이 관람자의 심장에 닿을 때, ‘콩닥’군은 심장소리를 내며 관람자의 심장과 같은 주파수로 콩닥거리며 깨어나 움직이게 된다.

Frog Xylophone is a device that transforms one’s hand into a musical instrument. It consists of two parts: five finger-caps equipped with speakers and touch sensors and the control unit, a round device on the palm connected to them with cable. Each finger can make a different sound by touching anywhere on the body.

개구리실로폰은 사용자의 손을 악기로 변화시킨다. 이것은 두 개의 파트 -스피커와 접촉센서가 내장된 5개의 핑거캡과 이들에 케이블로 연결된 제어유닛인 손바닥위의 반구형 장치-로 구성되어 있으며, 각 손가락은 신체의 어디든 접촉함으로서 서로 다른 소리를 내게된다.
